Proud to Back the Champions: Napier City Rovers Claim the 2026 Central League Title

What a season for Thirsty Whale Napier City Rovers.

The Surveying Company is incredibly proud to be a major sponsor of the club as they celebrate being crowned 2026 Dettol Central League Champions.

Rovers finished their league campaign in style, travelling to New Plymouth and securing an emphatic 6–0 victory over FC Western to seal the championship.

It is the club’s first Central League title since 2018 and their fourth overall. The achievement also ends Wellington Olympic’s run of five consecutive championships, making Rovers the first side to take the title from them in five years.

For everyone involved with Napier City Rovers, it is a fantastic reward for the work that goes on both on and off the pitch. From the players and coaching staff to the volunteers, supporters and wider team behind the club, it takes a huge collective effort to achieve a result like this.

As a Hawke’s Bay business, we’re proud to support organisations that contribute so much to our region. Being part of the Rovers journey and watching the club represent Napier and Hawke’s Bay at this level is something our team is very proud of.

Next Stop: The National League Championship

The season isn’t over yet.

Napier City Rovers will now compete in the 2026 National League Championship, running from 27 September through to 6 December.

As the only regional team in the competition, Rovers will go up against some of the biggest football clubs in New Zealand, including five home fixtures at Bluewater Stadium.

Before then, there’s another special occasion to look forward to. On 19 September, Napier City Rovers will return to McLean Park for the first time in 26 years, taking on Palmerston North United at 12pm as the curtain raiser to the Auckland FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers A-League friendly.

There’s plenty more football still to come, and we’ll be proudly supporting the team every step of the way.
